Stefano Parolai

professor of Solid Earth physics University of Trieste

Stefano Parolai is a full professor of Solid Earth Physics and director of the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Geosciences at the University of Trieste. Until 2022, he served as director of the Seismological Research Center (CRS) at the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (OGS) and as secretary general of the European Seismological Commission (ESC). He previously headed the Centre for Early Warning Systems at the GFZ Helmholtz-Zentrum für Geoforschung and served as an Adjunct Professor at the Technische Universität Berlin (Germany). He was appointed by the Minister of Civil Protection and Maritime Policy as a member and alternate representative on seismic risk matters of the National Commission for the Forecasting and Prevention of Major Risks (Major Risks Commission).
