Speranza Falciano

Speranza Falciano is a physicist and professor at the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI). She carried out her research at INFN and CERN, contributing to leading experiments in high-energy physics, including L3 at LEP and ATLAS at LHC. Throughout her career, she has held important institutional roles, including Vice President of INFN and Director of the INFN Section at Sapienza University of Rome. She has always promoted the application of nuclear physics technologies to areas such as cultural heritage, the environment, and health, directing the LABEC laboratory in Florence and coordinating interdisciplinary research activities, including the PNRR CHANGES project dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage. She is a member of the Academia Europaea and was President of the Italian Academy of Engineering and Technology, which she co-founded in 2022 in collaboration with the Accademia dei Lincei. Her scientific activity is documented by over a thousand publications.
