Mariastefania De Vido

Mariastefania De Vido is a Senior Laser Scientist and leads the “Centre for Advanced Laser Technologies and Applications” group at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the United Kingdom. Her research focuses on the development of high-energy and high-power lasers used in scientific research, advanced manufacturing and emerging medical technologies. A key part of her work involves creating high-energy lasers for laser-driven particle accelerators, an innovative approach that aims to make accelerators more compact and more affordable for applications in medicine, industrial imaging and fundamental physics. Mariastefania holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Physics from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and an MBA and a Doctorate in Applied Photonics from Heriot-Watt University (United Kingdom).
