Alessio Del Dotto

Alessio Del Dotto is a researcher at INFN's National Laboratories of Frascati, where he works on plasma wakefield acceleration, a technology that promises accelerators far more compact than conventional machines. A leading member of the SPARC_LAB and EuPRAXIA@SPARC_LAB collaborations, he has contributed to several landmark results in the field, including the first free-electron laser with a compact beam-driven plasma accelerator. His work ranges from beam dynamics to plasma characterisation and plasma-based radiation sources. He also develops Bayesian machine learning methods that, by coupling probabilistic models to GPU-cluster simulations, sharply reduce the cost of designing these accelerators. He holds a degree in Physics from Sapienza University of Rome and a PhD from Roma Tre University, and has authored more than fifty scientific publications.
