Giuliana Rossi
deputy director OGS Centre Seismological Research
Giuliana Rossi has worked for over thirty years in the field of seismology and applied seismology, making original contributions both in the study of seismic wave properties to derive information on the physical properties of rocks, such as anisotropy, attenuation, and fluid content, and in studies of seismicity, the deformation field, and the tectonic and geodynamic processes of northeastern Italy and adjacent areas. She currently studies strain-field variations from GNSS data, their petrophysical interpretation, and the relationships with spatiotemporal variations in seismicity, which can be traced back to the so-called seismic cycle. Her scientific activity is summarised in nearly one hundred publications, and she coordinates and has coordinated national and international projects, as well as the Technical Scientific Committee of the Italian National Solid Earth Geophysics Group.
