Caterina Serra

Caterina Serra is a writer, journalist and screenwriter. She made her literary debut with the novel-reportage Tilt (Einaudi, 2008), which grew out of the reportage Chiusa in una stanza sempre aperta, winner of the Paola Biocca Prize for Literary Reporting in 2006. She has also published Padreterno. Una storia contro il sessismo (Einaudi, 2015), the poetic and political volume Displacement, with photographs by Giovanni Cocco (Postcart), and the novel Bruceremo (VandA, 2024). She has written screenplays for documentaries and feature films, including Guerra by Pippo Delbono, Napoli Piazza Municipio by Bruno Oliviero, which won the Best Documentary Award at the Torino Film Festival, and Piccola Patria and Effetto Domino by Alessandro Rossetto, both presented at the Venice International Film Festival. She writes for newspapers and magazines, including il manifesto, L’Espresso, Domani, Jacobin Italia and Doppiozero. Since 2024 she has coordinated the Future of Writing research project at EPFL in Lausanne.
