Sabah AlMomin è una ricercatrice che svolge studi pionieristici presso il Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), ed è vice presidente della TWAS per la regione araba. Ha contribuito a stabilire un programma nazionale di biotecnologia in Kuwait e ha guidato un’iniziativa governativa per istituire un Centro Nazionale di Ingegneria Genetica e Biotecnologia. È stata determinante nel fare diventare il KISR un centro affiliato all’International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB). AlMomin è una professionista certificata in gestione del rischio presso l’International Federation of Biosafety Association, e membro della Commissione per la Scienza e la Tecnologia per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile e dell’Organizzazione per le donne scienziate nei paesi in via di sviluppo (OWSD). I suoi interessi di ricerca riguardano l’ingegneria genetica, la diagnostica, la genetica delle popolazioni, la biodiversità e la biosicurezza.

Sabah AlMomin is a pioneering researcher at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and vice-president of TWAS for the Arab Region. She contributed to establishing a Kuwaiti national biotechnology programme and led a government initiative to establish a National Centre of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. She was instrumental in making KISR as an affiliated centre with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB). AlMomin is a certified risk-management professional from the International Federation of Biosafety Association and member of the Commission of Science and Technology for Sustainable Development, and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD). Her research interests are genetic engineering, diagnostics, population genetics, biodiversity, and biosafety.
