Giorgio Galanti is researcher at the Institute for Astrophysics and Cosmic Physics Milano (INAF IASF Milano), and mainly deals with studies of fundamental physics using astrophysical data with the dual purpose of explaining astrophysical processes starting from first principles and obtaining indications of “new physics” from observations of astrophysical sources. In particular, he is active in the study of the effects of axion-like particles (ALPs) and Lorentz invariance violation (LIV) on the observation of photons emitted by sources such as blazars, pulsars, gamma ray bursts, galaxy clusters. He obtained various indications of new physics in terms of ALPs which have produced, in addition to scientific papers, some press releases. He is principal investigator on aspects of fundamental physics in the astrophysical environment at INAF and has recently obtained a grant from INAF regarding the same studies.
