Emma Yhnell

A Reader in Neuroscience (Teaching and Scholarship) and Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, she is an award-winning science communicator who works at the intersection of bioscience education, public engagement, and inclusive academic leadership. Her practice focuses on making science accessible, meaningful, and inclusive through innovative, evidence-informed teaching and science communication. Dr. Yhnell designs collaborative learning experiences that enhance belonging and translate complex ideas for diverse audiences, influencing curricula and pedagogy internationally. Her contributions have been recognised with major honours, including a National Teaching Fellowship and Senior Fellowship of Advance HE. In parallel, she provides strategic EDI leadership across multiple schools and contributes to national and international policy, governance, and research integrity initiatives, while maintaining an active programme of public engagement.
