Alberto Pallavicini is Full Professor of Genetics in the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Trieste, where he leads the Laboratory of Applied and Comparative Genomics. His research focuses on the genomics of non-model organisms, marine biodiversity, environmental DNA and metabarcoding, transcriptomics, bioinformatics, and the molecular mechanisms underlying adaptation and response to the environment. He has worked on bivalve molluscs, marine invertebrates, invasive species, and organisms of ecological interest, with particular attention to the use of genomic tools for environmental monitoring, biodiversity assessment, and conservation. He has authored numerous international scientific publications and takes part in national and European projects on biodiversity, sustainability, and the blue economy. At the University of Trieste, he teaches genetics, genomics, and molecular biology and promotes interdisciplinary collaborations at an international level.
