Nato in Nepal, Surendra Chand lavora come fisico medico e responsabile della radioprotezione nell’ospedale per la cura del cancro BPKM, in Nepal. Ha un Master in fisica ed un master congiunto di secondo livello in fisica medica ottenuto presso l’Università degli Studi di Trieste e il Centro Internazionale di Fisica Teorica (ICTP) di Trieste. Attualmente lavora come docente nel campo della Fisica medica all’ICTP. Il suo obiettivo è il miglioramento della professione del fisico medico e del servizio di fisica medica nel suo paese, con l’utilizzo di terapie di qualità per i pazienti in radioterapia. La scelta di nuovi macchinari e il miglioramento di tecniche avanzate sono le sue principali responsabilità nell’ospedale dove lavora. Vorrebbe poter contribuire al raggiungimento di un sistema sanitario che in Nepal punti ai livelli standard già presenti in altre parti del mondo.

Born in Nepal, Surendra Chand is currently working as medical physicist and radiation protection officer in BPKM Cancer Hospital, Nepal. He has an MSc in Physics from Nepal and a Master of advanced studies in Medical physics (MMP) from the University of Trieste and the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste. Currently he is professor in Medical physics at the ICTP. He has been working to improve the medical physicist’s profession and the medical physics’ service with quality treatment for radiotherapy patients in Nepal. Commissioning of new radiotherapy machines and implementation of advanced techniques are his main responsibilities. His aim is to contribute to the establishment of a system, in Nepal, which could provide standard therapy services which are available in other parts of the world.
