Slavik Tabakov è presidente emerito di IUPESM. Dal 2015 al 2018 è stato presidente di IOPM e per oltre 30 anni ha contribuito in maniera significativa allo sviluppo internazionale della fisica medica. Originario della Bulgaria, dal 1991 ha lavorato al King’s College di Londra, dove ha fondato diversi Corsi di laurea ad indirizzo scientifico. È co-direttore del College on Medical Physics presso ICTP di Trieste. Tabakov ha svolto 7 progetti internazionali che hanno permesso di sviluppare la prima piattaforma e-learning e il primo sito web per la formazione in ambito della fisica medica. È autore del Medical Physics Scientific Dictionary (tradotto in 31 lingue) e della prima Encyclopaedia of Medical Physics digitale. Ha contribuito all’avvio di corsi di laurea in diversi Paesi e ricevuto numerose onoreficenze. È fondatore e co-editor-in-chief del Medical Physics International.

Slavik Tabakov, PhD, Dr.h.c., FIPEM, FHEA, FIOMP, FIUPESM, is emeritus president of IUPESM. He was IOMP president (2015-2018) and is an active contributor to the international development of medical physics for more than 30 years. He was born in Bulgaria and since 1991 he has been working at King’s College London, UK, where he was founding director of MSc Clinical Sciences (Medical physics), MSc Clinical sciences (Clinical engineering), MSc Medical engineering and physics. He is also co-director of the College on Medical Physics at ICTP in Trieste. Tabakov has led 7 international projects, which developed the first e-learning and first educational website in medical physics, the first Medical Physics Scientific Dictionary (translated to 31 languages) and the first e-Encyclopaedia of Medical Physics. He has advised the development of 18 MSc courses in various countries and has received many awards. He is founding co-editor-in-chief of the journal Medical Physics International.
