Roberto Danovaro

Roberto Danovaro is among the world’s most influential researchers in the fields of ecology and marine biology and is one of the leading voices on the health of the Ocean. He is Professor at the Marche Polytechnic University and President of the Pact with the Sea for the Earth Foundation. Former President of the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn in Naples, he has led more than 30 scientific expeditions and coordinated numerous research projects. He is President of the Scientific Council of WWF Italy and a member of numerous international scientific bodies devoted to innovation, sustainability, and the blue economy. He has received the ENI Award for Environmental Protection and recognition as Top World Scientist (2010–2020) in the “Ocean and Seas” category. He is the author of more than 500 publications and of academic and popular science textbooks, including Rigenerare il Pianeta (2025, Laterza), Restaurare la Natura (2025, Edizioni Ambiente), Oceano Futuro (2026, Carocci), and Abissi (2026, Mondadori).
