Paola Del Negro
director general OGS
Paola Del Negro is the Director General of the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics - OGS. A biologist with a PhD in Environmental Sciences, she has led the institute since 2018, following a six-year tenure as the director of its oceanography research section. Her scientific research focuses primarily on marine microbial ecology. She has participated in more than 30 oceanographic campaigns in the Mediterranean Sea and 3 expeditions to Antarctica in the Ross Sea, where she coordinated the Biology Operational Unit. She has authored over 100 publications in international scientific journals and has led numerous European and national research projects.
