Lamberto Maria Moruzzi

Lamberto Maria Moruzzi graduated in Law from LUISS University in Rome in 1998. He joined the Italian diplomatic service in 2000 following a competitive examination and completed diplomatic training in 2001. He served both in Italy and abroad, with postings in Cairo, Santiago, Bangkok, and Washington. Rising through the diplomatic ranks from Secretary of Legation to Minister Plenipotentiary in 2024, he also headed Office V of the Directorate General for Globalization and Global Issues. From September 2023, he served as Diplomatic Adviser to the Italian Minister of University and Research. He currently serves as Director for Scientific, Space and Sports Diplomacy within the Directorate-General for Economic Cooperation at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

In a world facing complex global challenges, scientific knowledge increasingly emerges through networks rather than isolated actors. This TWAS-IAP-OWSD session examines how international scientific networks —including academies, researchers from the global South and women scientists— serve as channels of science diplomacy. The event explores how networks shape scientific and policy discourse, build trust, and foster South–South cooperation through long standing relationships, inclusive dialogue and collective intelligence.
