Giulia Salzano
PhD student in Neurobiology SISSA
Giulia Salzano obtained a BSc in Physics from the University of Pisa and an MSc in Complex Systems Physics, writing a thesis in computational neuroscience on the study, through numerical simulations, of the interactions between neurons and astrocytes. During her master’s studies, she spent a research period at Stanford University in the group of Professor Alberto Salleo, supported by an ISSNAF (Italian Scientists and Scholars in North America Foundation) fellowship. She is currently a PhD candidate in Neurobiology at SISSA in Trieste, where she has embarked on an experimental research project aimed at bridging the gap between computational and experimental approaches in neuroscience. Her project uses advanced imaging techniques to study the dialogue between neurons and oligodendrocytes, the cells responsible for the formation of myelin, and to understand how this process is altered under inflammatory conditions.
