Corrado Calì

Corrado Calì is Associate Professor of Human Anatomy at the Department of Neuroscience, University of Turin. After graduating in biomedical engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin (2006), he developed a passion for neuroscience during his thesis in Henry Markram's lab at EPFL in Lausanne. He earned his PhD at the University of Lausanne, studying how astrocytes modulate synaptic activity. He then specialized in 3D electron microscopy in Graham Knott's lab (EPFL). In 2013 he joined Pierre Magistretti's team at KAUST (Saudi Arabia), combining electron microscopy, 3D reconstruction and virtual reality to study astrocyte morphology and brain metabolism. Since 2020 he has been a researcher at the Neuroscience Institute Cavalieri Ottolenghi (NICO) in Orbassano. In 2021 he founded INTRAVIDES, a startup developing mixed-reality tools for surgery. Since 2025 he has been Scientific Director of Fonds Clinatec (Grenoble). He has authored over 60 international scientific publications.
