Antonella Fioravanti
molecular biologist
Antonella Fioravanti (Prato, 1983) is a scientist whose research focuses on innovative strategies to disarm pathogenic bacteria. Her work, published in journals such as Nature Microbiology, has contributed to the development of new solutions to combat antibiotic-resistant infections. She has received several international awards, including the 2020 EOS Pipet Award from the Royal Academy of Belgium, and has served as Scientific Advisor at the Embassy of Italy in Brussels. Today, she is a Guest Professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, an evaluator for the European Innovation Council, and President of the Parsec Foundation. Alongside her research activities, she is actively engaged in science communication, support for public policy development, and advocacy for women in STEM. In 2022, she was appointed Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy by President Sergio Mattarella.
