DNA, the show that makes science sing, as part of Trieste Next – Festival of Scientific Research. Taking the stage alongside the Deproducers — Vittorio Cosma, Riccardo Sinigallia and Laura Arzilli — are their live music, evolutionary philosopher Telmo Pievani as narrator, and the visuals of Marino Capitanio. The project was born from the collaboration between the Deproducers and the AIRC Foundation, with the aim of bringing the value of cancer research beyond the laboratory and into a shared experience.
Original music, visual imagery and Pievani’s narration intertwine to transform science into an immersive experience: rigorous in its content yet accessible to everyone, bringing together the pleasure of listening with the wonder of discovery.
The story follows a precise and surprising thread. It begins with the origins of life — abiogenesis, the emergence of multicellularity, and the distinction between chance and necessity — before tracing the 200,000-year history of our species: 8,000 generations and 107 billion human beings. At its heart lies the discovery of DNA, evolution’s greatest invention, and our encounter with LUCA, the Last Universal Common Ancestor. From there, the journey leads to cancer: its mutations and the tools science is developing to recognize and fight it.
