Alois Bonifacio
professor of Chemistry University of Trieste
Alois Bonifacio is an Associate Professor of Foundations of Chemical Technologies at the University of Trieste. In addition to general chemistry, he teaches a course for engineering students on critical and strategic raw materials, addressing the crucial role of raw materials in the energy transition, including their technological, geopolitical, and sustainability implications. He served as a member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Observatory on Critical Raw Materials for Energy (OIMCE) of the World Energy Council Italy and has been lecturing for several years at the “Giacomo Ciamician” Summer School on Energy.

TRIESTE
The energy transition calls for a new way of thinking—systemic, interdisciplinary, and informed. An engineer and a chemist will guide students through key technologies such as photovoltaics, wind power, electric mobility, and hydrogen, as well as the “critical” raw materials that are often overlooked yet play a decisive role amid industrial and geopolitical challenges. This event is designed to foster the interaction between curiosity and knowledge, helping participants understand and discuss one of the defining transformations of our time.
