In un mondo in cui il cambiamento climatico rappresenta una delle maggiori minacce per la salute, la sanità
continua a contribuire in maniera significativa all’emissione di CO2. In termini di spreco energetico le pratiche
sanitarie hanno ripercussioni considerevoli su clima e ambiente. Per determinare l’entità di questo impatto, tuttora non ben quantificato, sono già stati introdotti diversi protocolli. Il pubblico individuerà le aree con maggiore spreco
e identificherà le strategie per migliorare la performance sanitaria e ottimizzare le risorse a disposizione.

In a world where climate change has been named as one of the biggest threats to human health, the healthcare
sector continues to significantly contribute to CO2 emissions. Despite climate impacts linked to surgery are
generally accepted as necessary they are not rigorously quantified. Even if still at the beginning, several protocols
have been developed to underline the healthcare weight on the climate. Our aim is to further estimate the carbon
footprint of our clinical and surgical activities and identify more strategies for improving the environmental
performance.
