Abstract
In just a few generations, the planet has witnessed a staggering increase in population, rising demands for food, and a troubling shift towards dietary preferences and lifestyles that place a heavy burden on our available resources. At the same time, we live in a global society where overconsumption, food waste, and disparities in access to a healthy diet are reaching critical levels. Estimates suggest that around 3 billion people cannot afford a nutritious diet, while up to 50% of food resources are wasted due to technical issues, consumer preferences, and overproduction—figures that show food security is about much more than just production and supply.
