Abstract
Forgetting is not just a loss—it is an essential function of the mind. Oblivion allows us to select, reshape and give meaning to memories, helping to build our identity and sustain our ability to imagine the future. This event explores the science of forgetting, weaving together neuroscience, psychology and philosophy to show how memory and oblivion are complementary, indispensable processes of life. Reflecting on forgetting means questioning the relationship between mind and time, the value of selection and erasure, and the ethical and social implications of memory increasingly outsourced to the digital world. A dialogue that opens new perspectives on what we remember, what we choose to forget, and what inevitably slips away.
