SPACE 7. 50 YEARS AFTER THE FRIULI EARTHQUAKE. THE UNIVERSITY OF TRIESTE'S CONTRIBUTION TO EARTHQUAKE RESEARCH

On 6 May 1976, the Friuli earthquake changed forever how Italy studies and responds to earthquakes. The Seismology group of the University of Trieste studies the region's seismicity, including through the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto Accelerometric Network, run in collaboration with regional and national Civil Protection. At our stand we retrace fifty years of research, from historical instruments to modern seismic surveillance systems, with experiments and demonstrations on how an earthquake is recorded, analysed and communicated today.
