SPACE 16. INTELLIGENCE IN THE SEA: STORIES OF STRATEGIES AND ADAPTATIONS FROM THE UNDERWATER WORLD

For 40 years, the staff of the Miramare MPA have been studying the life forms that inhabit it, investigating the strategies by which marine organisms perceive their environment, adapt to it and interact with it. From camouflage to surprising methods of reproduction and defence, a variety of evolutionary solutions reveal the many forms of ‘intelligence’ found in the sea. In the WWF area, videos, talks and educational games will guide the public in discovering which creature has these remarkable abilities and strategies, and how they use them to face the complex of the marine environment.
