Laureata in Matematica con un dottorato in Ingegneria fisica ambientale. Ha esperienza nel settore dell’osservazione della terra, lavorando su GPS, sonde atmosferiche e radar ad apertura sintetica presso aziende industriali. Dopo il dottorato, ha fatto parte del team di Spettroscopia applicata all’Università della Basilicata. Dal 2013 lavora all’Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI), dove è attualmente responsabile del settore Esplorazione Umana e Robotica. Ha gestito strumenti italiani di rilievo come la camera JANUS e lo spettrometro MAJIS per la missione JUICE dell’ESA, oltre al sistema SIMBIOSYS a bordo della missione BepiColombo (ESA-JAXA). È stata anche Interface Project Manager per LICIACube, parte della missione DART della NASA. Recentemente è coinvolta nell’esplorazione di Marte come delegata ASI nel International Mars Exploration Working Group, nel Comitato di Tracking ExoMars Rosalind Franklin e nella delegazione italiana ESA per l’Esplorazione Umana e Robotica.
Marilena Amoroso
Marilena Amoroso holds an MD in Mathematics and a PhD in Environmental Physics Engineering. She has experience in Earth Observation, working on GPS, atmospheric sounding, and Synthetic Aperture Radar within industrial companies. After her PhD, she joined the Applied Spectroscopy Team at the University of Basilicata. Since 2013, she has been with the Italian Space Agency (ASI), currently Head of the Human and Robotic Exploration sector. She managed key Italian instruments such as the JANUS camera and MAJIS spectrometer for ESA’s JUICE mission, and the SIMBIOSYS suite aboard ESA-JAXA’s BepiColombo mission. She was also Interface Project Manager for LICIACube, part of NASA’s DART mission. Recently, she has been involved in Mars exploration as ASI delegate to the International Mars Exploration Working Group, the ESA ExoMars Rosalind Franklin Tracking Committee, and the ESA Italian delegation for Human and Robotic Exploration.
