Abstract
In biomedical research, seemingly different approaches are increasingly coming together: on one side, laboratory experimentation with cells, test tubes and biological techniques; on the other, data analysis, computational models and artificial intelligence—essential tools for interpreting and predicting complex phenomena. But how do these two worlds interact? And why is this dialogue crucial not only for basic research, but also for its clinical impact? Laura Cancedda (IIT), Diego Di Bernardo (TIGEM) and Stefano Diciotti (University of Bologna) will discuss these questions as researchers who work precisely at the intersection of experimentation and modeling. Drawing on their respective fields—neuroscience, systems biology and AI for medicine—they will show why today’s biomedical science is, more than ever, a team effort.
