Cristina Serra è una biologa molecolare con solida formazione in genetica. Ha svolto ricerche all’ICGEB di Trieste e per due anni a Yale e Cornell (USA) su progetti di cancro e terapia genica. Nel 1997 ha conseguito il Master in Comunicazione della Scienza alla SISSA e ha scelto il giornalismo scientifico. Dal 1997 al 2010 ha collaborato come freelance con testate come Corriere della Sera, la Repubblica, l’Espresso, Il Piccolo, Le Scienze. Ha lavorato come Public Information Officer per l’Ospedale Burlo Garofolo, SISSA, OGS, Università di Trieste. Dal 2004 collabora con RAI per programmi radio su scienza, società ed educazione cinofila. Dal 2010 è staff writer per TWAS: cura interviste, contenuti web, eventi pubblici, relazioni stampa e traduzioni inglese-italiano.

Cristina Serra is a molecular biologist with a strong background in genetics. She conducted research at ICGEB in Trieste, and spent two years at Yale University (New Haven, CT) and Cornell University (New York City) working on cancer and gene therapy projects.
In 1997, she earned a Master’s in Science Communication from SISSA, Trieste, and opted for science journalism. From 1997 to 2010, she worked as a free-lance science writer for Corriere della Sera, la Repubblica, l’Espresso, Il Piccolo, Le Scienze. She served as Public Information Officer for the Children's Hospital Burlo Garofolo, SISSA, OGS, the University of Trieste. In 2004, she began a collaboration with the Italian broadcaster RAI, to devise and run radio programs on science, society, and dog education.
In 2010, she joined TWAS as a staff writer. There she conducts interviews with high-profile figures, edits website content, and organizes public events. She manages press relations and serves as English-Italian translator.
