Abstract
AI now astonishingly simulates the human mind, leading us to question whether we are truly interacting with it or with a real person. However, the human “mind” can also become dysfunctional, particularly in processes related to social and affective abilities. Reflecting on the role emotions play in social interactions, psychological well-being, and, consequently, in its psychopathological counterpart, this panel will seek to address the following questions: To what extent can AI experience (or simulate) emotions? Similarly, will AI algorithms learn to suffer from affective disorders?
