Il nuovo mondo è già qui e i Musei di Storia Naturale rappresentano un database concreto del cambiamento della biodiversità e delle nuove problematiche di adattamento e convivenza con una biodiversità che noi stessi stiamo cambiando. Molti animali e molte piante spariscono (e spesso non lo notiamo), altri invece li facciamo arrivare da tutti i continenti (e ce ne accorgiamo solamente quando combinano guai). Le scienze naturali non cambiano più solo con le nuove scoperte scientifiche, ma è il mondo stesso che cambia velocemente, a causa nostra.

The new world is already here, and the Natural History Museums represent a concrete database of changing biodiversity and the new issues of adapting to and living with a biodiversity that we ourselves are changing. Many animals and plants disappear (and we often don’t notice) while others we bring in from all continents (and we only notice when they make trouble). The natural sciences are no longer changing only with new scientific discoveries, but it is the world itself that is changing rapidly, because of us.
