Viruses dominate all habitats of life and are normally defined as pathogens. Their bad reputation originates from pandemics such as Influenza, HIV, Sars-CoV-2. However, most viruses are not enemies or killers, and play important roles in the origin, development and maintenance of life of all species on our planet. Furthermore, thanks to the progress of scientific research, viruses have also been tamed to bring healthy genes into cells and humans to cure diseases such as cancer and genetic disorders.
