Roberto Trotta è docente di Astrostatistica all’Imperial College di Londra e docente di Fisica teorica alla Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) di Trieste, dove dirige il gruppo di Teoria e Scienza dei Dati. E’ un esperto nello sviluppo ed applicazione di metodi statistici ed intelligenza artificiale in cosmologia ed astrofisica.

Roberto Trotta is professor of Theoretical physics at SISSA, where he is the head of the Theoretical and Scientific Data Science group, and professor of Astrostatistics at Imperial College London. His research focuses on cosmology, machine learning and data science, with applications to early universe cosmology, dark matter direct and indirect detection, supernova type Ia and large scale structure data. He was awarded the 2018 Chair Lemaître of the University of Louvain for his work on astrostatistics. He is a fellow of the Data Science Institute at Imperial and an elected fellow of the International Astrostatistics association. An award-winning author and science communicator, he is the recipient of the Annie Maunder Medal 2020 of the Royal Astronomical Society for his public engagement work.
